I agree with almost all of this post, but I do have one quibble. In the part where you dismiss the New York Magazine article's attempt to differentiate between Hamas and IDF on the basis of intentionality. If it IS true that IDF never intentionally kills civilians and Hamas does, that is not a meaningless difference -- although, just to be clear, I don't know if that is true. I am not validating the claim of the absolute variance in intentionality between the two parties, I'm just saying that intentionality is not meaningless and is too often dismissed in current political discourse. To me, it's (probably) more a matter of whether the IDF operates in such a careless, destructive manner that their intentions are all but negated by the heinousness of their m.o.
